My Story So Far
When I first started this business, I was just trying to survive. I picked up the accounts nobody else wanted — the tough ones. I went from 4 pools to 20 by saying “yes” when others said “no.” Funny enough, I eventually gave some of those away too. But back then, I was willing to work as hard as needed to grow. Those early days taught me a lot about both pools and persistence.
This Past Week
This week I started using PoolRx algaecide to help fight algae before summer really kicks in. I’ll keep you posted on how well it works. I also wrapped up billing for April — lots of DE filter repairs, filter cleans, and a noticeable increase in chemical usage (no surprise there). On the personal side, I visited my primary care doctor to prep for surgery: blood work, EKG, chest x-ray, and urine test. It reminded me how fragile the human body really is. I’m grateful for what mine’s done, and I’m doing what I can to get it ready for what’s next.
New Lessons and Thoughts
Sometimes growth starts by doing the jobs no one else wants.
Algae season is coming fast — having the right tools in place early makes a big difference.
Taking care of myself is just as important as taking care of the business.
Facing surgery makes you appreciate every step your body can still take.
Looking Ahead
The next two weeks are all about prepping my pools hard so they’re in great shape during my recovery. I’m also focusing on cleaning up my own system — better food, more water, fewer bad habits — to make surgery and healing go as smoothly as possible. Finally, I’ll be watching more videos on my Skimmer app so I can use it more efficiently when I’m back out there with help by my side.
